This work is highly influenced by European illuminated manuscripts. From the overall layout with highly decorative border, to the use of gold, to the blackletter style for the center title, to the style of ornaments.
The center main type is an ambigram. On the Sun king side up, it reads "Illusion". On the Moon Queen side up, it reads "Magic".
The center-piece produced in letterpressed and gold foil.
Illusion alludes to the ornaments around the center piece that conceal messages. The letterforms are deliberately designed to be very vague. On the Sun King side up, it reads "Wonder". On the Moon Queen side up, it reads "Amazed".
The letters are camouflaged by elaborate swashes and curlicues. Here presented in the simplified version.
